Village Eats Cookbook – Update on Deliveries

A Message from the Village Eats Cookbook Team re Deliveries…

As we know, 2020 has been quite a year.

The many impacts related to Covid-19 have been felt in so many different ways – and for those of us in the Village Eats team part of that meant putting together a 300-plus page cookbook in between two lockdowns.

But it turns out that wasn’t the end of our Covid-related challenges.

After pulling out all the stops to meet our deadline to get our book to print so it would be delivered in November (giving ample time to get it under Christmas trees), we’ve now learnt it’s been delayed.

Due to worldwide shipping delays, congestion at the ports and other freighting issues, our printer has told us the books now won’t be with us until 20 December.

We’re so disappointed to bring you this news, as we know it not only delays getting the book you’ve so generously supported into your own hands, but also those you were planning on gifting it to. We are hugely sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

But, in the ‘keep calm and carry on’ spirit of our times, our plan is to pull out all the stops to still get the books to you before Christmas. Our small team of school volunteers hope to personally deliver the books to you on 21 December. If there are any further changes to this plan, we’ll let you know as soon as we hear.

We recognise that you’ve made a significant contribution in supporting this project and we sincerely hope that, despite this delay, you’re still happy to continue with any book preorder commitments you have made.

Given that this delay has also severely impacted our pre-Christmas sales plans, which involved selling the books at multiple Christmas events and markets, we’d also be incredibly appreciative of any further support in terms of book pre-orders. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go towards creating a new junior school playground for our youngest tamariki – ultimately, that’s what it’s all about.
